Friends of Dent Church of England
Primary School
The
Friends of Dent School was formed in 1990 to give members of the
community a means to provide help and support to Dent Primary School
in order to ensure and enhance its continued existence. Fund-raising
is of prime importance and money raised is solely for the support of
the school.
Over
the past years, the Friends of Dent Primary School have purchased such
items as laptop computers, interactive whiteboards, library books, a
dvd camera, carpets and blinds.
It
is essential to make children’s experiences of early years schooling
interesting, exciting and varied and the Friends of Dent School are
proud to be able to facilitate extra curricular activities for the
children.
Friends of Dent School have made it possible for the children to
attend regular yoga sessions in the Meditation Centre, yoga benefits
all aspects of physical, mental and emotional health. The committee
have purchased new monitors for the computers and are to pay for
regular ICT support to maintain the schools computers and software in
the ever changing world of information technology.
We
encourage members of the wider community to join in activities with
the school children by holding Beetle Drives and the Summer Village
Barbeque.
The most successful fundraising event
held for a number of years is The Auction of Items and Promises;
individuals and businesses from the Dale and all over the county
generously donate over 100 lots to be auctioned.
